The Long Arm of the Dragon: CCP’s Transnational Repression and Global Crisis of Religious Freedom

On December 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. local time, the third Conference on State-Religious Denominations Relations was held in the Santa Maria in Aquiro Institute Hall at the Italian Senate in Rome. The event was initiated by Senator Lucio Malan, organized by Fedinsieme (Faiths Together), and held with the support of the Italian Senate. Representatives from academia, politics, law, media, and a wide range of religious communities gathered to discuss religious freedom in the current international context. During the conference, several participants pointed out that China stands as the most representative contemporary example of authoritarianism and religious persecution in the world today.
