No National Day, Only National Mourning: Dutch Groups Protest Against CCP Tyranny

On September 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM local time, over a hundred people gathered at the National Monument in Dam Square, Amsterdam, Netherlands, for a demonstration themed “Unite Against CCP Tyranny.” Participants included members of the Civil Resistance Association and China Action, the Support Uyghur Foundation, the Tibet Support Group NL, the Voice Against Communism Netherlands, and some persecuted Chinese Christians. They held banners, chanted slogans, mourned the victims of the CCP since its founding, and called on the international community to pay closer attention to human rights and religious freedom in China.

At 12:40 PM local time, the event began with an English-language introduction played on a loop, highlighting that since the CCP’s founding, purges, famines, revolutions, and crackdowns have caused over 76 million unnatural deaths. The rally aimed to expose the CCP’s atrocities, including land reform campaigns, the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution, and ongoing atrocities, such as the persecution of Uyghurs, Tibetans, Hong Kong democracy activists, and Christians. The event emphasized that this is not a day of celebration but a day of national mourning, urging global attention to freedom, human rights, and justice. The content being played caught the attention of passersby.
Meanwhile, tourists in the square were drawn to an English-language poster on the ground reading, “Court of the Citizens of the World Issues Warrant for Xi Jinping for Crimes Against Humanity.” Many stopped to read the poster and the flyers being handed out.

Abdurehim Gheni, chairman of the Support Uyghur Foundation, spoke about the genocide in East Turkestan and shared his family’s experiences of persecution. October 1, 2025, is the 76th anniversary of the CCP’s founding, during which the regime has carried out brutal assimilation policies and is committing genocide in East Turkestan. A total of 19 members of his family were persecuted. In July 2024, he testified before the Court of Citizens of the World (CCW) in The Hague regarding Xi Jinping’s crimes in East Turkestan. Two days before his testimony, police in China intimidated and threatened his brother and father, taking them out of a detention camp to record a video in an attempt to prevent his appearance before the court. They were then sent back to the camp, where they endured prolonged torture. Two months later, his father died. Abdurehim Gheni stated that his grief has not weakened his resolve but has instead strengthened his commitment to continue fighting for freedom and justice.

During the rally, Tsering Jampa, chair of the Tibet Support Group NL, said in an interview:
“While the Chinese Communist Party celebrates its so-called ‘achievements’ of the past 76 years, we have nothing to celebrate. For the six million Tibetans, as well as the people of East Turkestan, Southern Mongolia, and Hong Kong, this is a day of endurance, marked by pain and suffering. Over the past 76 years, the Communist Party has brought only oppression, hardship, and suffering.” She added: “We have a unified message today: ‘Enough!’ This is a message to Xi Jinping: ‘History shows that an empire built on fear and suppression—such a government—will never last!’”

Ms. Mao, a Christian from The Church of Almighty God (CAG), stated in an interview that she joined the event not only to mourn the countless victims of CCP tyranny but also to call on the international community to draw attention to the ongoing persecution of religious faith in China. She noted that many Christians have been arrested, tortured, with their families shattered and their lives ruined, adding that she herself had also been arrested. She described China as a “living hell” where speech, belief, and even thoughts are tightly controlled by the CCP. The Church of Almighty God has long been suppressed by the CCP, with hundreds of its members persecuted to death, and in recent years, this persecution has even spread overseas. The CCP has not only destroyed countless Chinese families but is also threatening freedom of religious belief worldwide.

Ms. Zhang, another CAG member, said in an interview that the CCP has long relied on lies, violence, and authoritarianism to maintain its rule, persecuting the Chinese people and religious believers since its founding, resulting in nearly 80 million unnatural deaths. She stated that CAG Christians have faced years of persecution for their faith, with the CCP attempting to completely eradicate them, demanding that people “only believe in the Party and obey its words.” Those who choose to follow God become targets of persecution. The CCP’s reach has extended overseas, with many exiled Christians living under surveillance, harassment, and even the threat of cross-border abductions. She urged the international community to focus on China’s human rights situation.

Several CAG Christians invited to the rally also shared their personal testimonies, exposing CCP atrocities.
Ms. Xiao, a CAG Christian, spoke with deep sorrow, saying that the CCP’s founding anniversary is not a “National Day” but more than seventy years of “national mourning,” during which countless political campaigns and acts of tyranny claimed tens of millions of lives and tore countless families apart. She recounted how she and other Christians were arrested, beaten, and threatened by CCP police for their faith. She emphasized that in 2024, persecution against The Church of Almighty God escalated further, with many believers handed heavy sentences, left disabled, killed, or forcibly disappeared. Ms. Xiao denounced the CCP as the “Satan” foretold in the Bible and urged the international community not to remain silent but to pay serious attention to human rights and religious freedom in China.

Another Christian, Ms. Zhang, stated that the rally was driven by conscience to expose the CCP’s long-standing violations of faith, human rights, and the right to life. She recalled historical campaigns such as the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution, and the Tiananmen Square massacre, emphasizing that the CCP has repeatedly caused humanitarian disasters. She noted that persecution continues to intensify, particularly through nationwide “eradication” campaigns targeting The Church of Almighty God. The CCP aims to annihilate Christians, blatantly trampling on human rights and faith. She called on the international community to speak out for the persecuted and to make the voices of the silenced heard.

Chinese Christian Wen Ke shared his story, recounting how he aspired to become a police officer in his youth but became disillusioned after witnessing the darkness and corruption within the CCP system. He chose to follow God but narrowly escaped arrest several times for his faith, with fellow Christians suffering torture and even losing their lives to protect him—leaving him with lasting pain. Even after fleeing abroad, his family in China has continued to face harassment and threats from the CCP. Wen Ke stated that the CCP has caused countless bloody atrocities over the past seven decades, from the Cultural Revolution and the Tiananmen Square massacre to the suppression of Tibetans, Uyghurs, and house churches, devouring countless innocent lives. He urged people to break their silence in the face of the CCP’s tyranny.

Ms. Wang Qinqin, a Chinese Christian, pointed out that over the past seven decades, the CCP has caused bloodshed through movements such as the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution, and the Tiananmen Square massacre, resulting in tens of millions of innocent deaths. The CCP continues to rule through lies and violence, with tragedies happening time and again. It persecutes believers and house churches, particularly The Church of Almighty God, without ever ceasing. Ms. Wang shared that she was pursued for her faith and forced to flee abroad. While the CCP claims to uphold freedom and human rights, its hands are stained with blood. She called on governments, international organizations, and people of conscience to pay attention to China’s human rights crisis, reject bribery by money and false diplomacy, to spread the truth, and to let light dispel darkness.

Ms. Hu Xiaoying, a Chinese Christian, broke down in tears several times during her speech, saying that she spoke both to commemorate those who died unnatural deaths under CCP rule and to denounce the CCP’s persecution of religious faith. She recounted witnessing fellow believers in China arrested and tortured for their faith in Almighty God, while she herself lived in constant fear, forced to move from city to city to evade capture before ultimately fleeing abroad. She emphasized that only after arriving overseas did she experience true freedom of speech—a basic human right cruelly denied in China. She called for collective prayers for freedom, justice, and the suffering people of China, expressing hope for a future where everyone can believe and live freely.

Christian Miao Qingli stated that since its founding, the CCP has caused over 70 million unnatural deaths through various campaigns, and its founding day should be called “national mourning,” not National Day. She highlighted that the CCP’s persecution of dissidents, ethnic minorities, and religious believers continues unabated, with intensified crackdowns on The Church of Almighty God. In 2024 alone, 19,053 CAG members were arrested, 2,175 were sentenced, including 168 to terms of over seven years, while at least 24 were persecuted to death. She denounced the CCP for treating lives as expendable, declaring, “Killing a Christian is like stepping on an ant.” She urged the international community to pay attention to China’s human rights crisis, speak out for the persecuted, and courageously resist tyranny.

Christian Shi Xiaxin, who attended the rally with his parents, mourned those persecuted to death under CCP totalitarian rule since 1949, stating that the CCP’s National Day is, in fact, a day of national mourning. Regarding the persecution of believers, he said, “The Church of Almighty God has been severely persecuted by the CCP. Police can arbitrarily raid Christians’ homes, confiscate their property, and even claim that Christians beaten to death died in vain. Tens of thousands of Christians from The Church of Almighty God are arrested and persecuted annually, with many beaten to death or forcibly disappeared.” He shared his childhood experiences, recalling how his father was imprisoned for his faith, and their family faced constant police harassment, leaving him in lasting fear—a shadow that remains with him to this day. He stated that the CCP’s claims of religious freedom are lies to cover up its crimes and called for the international community to unite in denouncing the CCP.

Around 4:30 PM, the rally concluded. Event organizer Jiang Peikun delivered a closing statement: “Today, we gather here to light a beacon of freedom that shines upon us and upon those in darkness, declaring to the world: We will not be silent, we will not fear, and our freedom is inviolable!” He urged everyone to continue paying attention to China’s human rights and religious freedom, so that the memory of this ‘national mourning’ is never forgotten.
