In November 2013, the police of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) entrapped and arrested Christian Shen Suping from Rugao City in Jiangsu Province, and then secretly executed her, all for believing in Almighty God. She was 57 years old.
The victim Shen Suping (alias Zhang Ping), female, was born on June 14 in 1957. She was from Zhongxin Village, Jiang’an Town in Jiangsu’s Rugao City. She joined The Church of Almighty God (CAG) in May 2007 and was a preacher of the Church before being murdered. The story of Shen Suping being tricked into going to the police station and then killed by the CCP police is below.
From the time she believed in Almighty God, Shen Suping spread the gospel enthusiastically, drawing the notice of the CCP police and making her a target for arrest. Around 11 a.m. on November 25, 2013, Shen Suping was at her parents’ home having lunch when police officers Huang Kuiding (male, in his 50s), Gu Feng (male, about 40, auxiliary police), and a plainclothes o cer, all from the Rugao Jiang’an Police Station charged in. Huang Kuiding cajoled Shen Suping, saying: “We’d like to ask you to come to the police station to help us with some information.” He also assured her family: “We all know each other and we’re on good terms. Don’t worry, she’ll be home in time for dinner!” They readily believed his promise and did not try to stop him. This is how the police fooled Shen Suping into going to the Jiang’an Police Station with them. A little after 5 p.m. her husband went to the police station to meet her. After he didn’t see her for quite a while, he called Huang Kuiding, who said that she had been taken to the Rugao Public Security Bureau and would be brought back in the following morning. The o cer told him to go home and wait for news.
On the evening of November 26, Shen Suping’s husband still hadn’t seen his wife return home and become extremely worried. He made another call to inquire with Huang Kuiding, but no one picked up. At 8 p.m. Shen Suping’s younger brother and an acquaintance in the Joint Defense Force went to the Rugao Public Security Bureau to look into it, and the police there told them: “Shen Suping had a sudden myocardial infarction. Medical intervention was ineffective, and she died.”
Her family was thunderstruck when they heard the terrible news. They simply could not accept it. They had never imagined that a person in such good health could be taken by the police and then suddenly die after just one day and one night, with the cause of death a “myocardial infarction”! Her family found the police’s explanation di cult to believe. She had always been healthy with absolutely no cardiovascular conditions, and right after this happened to her, the offcer Huang Kuiding was suddenly nowhere to be found and was not picking up his phone. He was clearly trying to avoid dealing with it. The police’s actions and words held absolutely no water; they were extremely suspect. In their grief and anger, Shen Suping’s family questioned the police: “We entrusted you with a perfectly healthy person and you caused her death! Was her faith a crime?” The offcer replied icily: “She’s dead now, just drop it! We’ll let you see her body if you agree to handle this privately.” They had to agree so that they could see her remains.
On November 29, Shen Suping’s husband, younger brother, and sister-in-law went to the Rugao Chengxi Funeral Home to view her remains.
According to Lanlan (an alias), a Christian from The Church of Almighty God who was arrested on the same day as Shen Suping, after her arrest on November 25, she overheard two auxiliary offcers discussing: “That old lady’s son died in a car accident. That’s so sad, but the police won’t let her go, and they’re even torturing her.” (Shen Suping’s son died in a car accident.) On December 5, when Lanlan was released she learned that Shen Suping had been killed by the police the day after her arrest, and only then did she figure out that the old lady the auxiliary officers had been talking about was Shen Suping. Offcer Chen Jianjun asked Lanlan: “Do you know where Zhang Ping went?” Lanlan said: “Wasn’t she beaten to death by you guys?” Chen Jianjun quickly replied: “Go home and don’t breathe a word about it.”
Shen Suping’s family later made a request to see the recordings during the investigation of the deceased at Lantian Hotel and the medical intervention at the hospital, but the police continued to evade this with the excuse that “it had been too late.” Instead they showed videos produced by the CCP slandering and attacking The Church of Almighty God to her family, making them even more suspect of the police’s claims of a myocardial infarction being the cause of death.
A deputy chief surnamed Zhu, also threatened Shen Suping’s younger brother, saying: “Your sister believed in Almighty God which is forbidden in this country. If you stir up trouble, you’ll be arrested, too!” Her family had no choice but to agree to handle it privately due to the pressure exerted on them by the CCP police. The Rugao Public Security Bureau gave the family 358,000 RMB in compensation in order to squelch the issue.
