5 Christians in Xinjiang Sentenced to 7-12 Years for Their Belief in Almighty God

Ouyang Qiuping, female, born in 1989, is a resident of Yining City in Xinjiang.
Hu Wenlan, female, born in 1966, is a resident of Kashgar Prefecture in Xinjiang.
Zhang Xue, female, born in 1990, is a resident of Yining City in Xinjiang.
Tang Xiaorong, female, born in 1968, is a resident of the Third Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
Huang Qiuxiang, female, born in 1965, is a resident of Yining City in Xinjiang.

The above five are all Christians from The Church of Almighty God (CAG), who were sentenced to 7-12 years imprisonment by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for their belief in God on September 4, 2019.

In November 2018, Ouyang Qiuping and four other Christians were arrested and criminally detained for their belief in God by police officers with Yining City Public Security Bureau in Xinjiang. According to sources, in October 2013, Ouyang Qiuping was sentenced by the Intermediate People’s Court in Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture to 3 years and 6 months on charge of organizing and using a xie jiao organization to undermine the enforcement of the law because of her belief in God.

On July 18, 2019, the Kuytun Procuratorate charged five Christians with organizing and using a xie jiao organization to undermine the enforcement of the law at the court, holding that they all had organized Christians to gather and evangelize, with Huang Qiuxiang once acting as a church leader, and Ouyang Qiuping, Hu Wenlan, Zhang Xue, and Tang Xiaorong as major CAG leaders in charge of the work of local churches in Yining area at different times.

On September 4, 2019, the Kuytun People’s Court in Xinjiang held Ouyang Qiuping to be a recidivist, who shall be given a heavier penalty, since she broke the law again within five years after finishing serving her last sentence; she was charged with organizing and using a xie jiao organization to undermine the enforcement of the law, and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment with a fine of 50,000 RMB (about 7,158 USD) under provisions including Paragraph 1 of Article 300 of the Chinese Criminal Law. On the same charge, Hu Wenlan, Zhang Xue, and Tang Xiaorong were sentenced to 9 years imprisonment with a fine of 40,000 RMB (about 5,736 USD), and Huang Qiuxiang 7 years imprisonment with a fine of 40,000 RMB (about 5,736 USD).

As of now, Ouyang Qiuping and four other Christians are still in custody, serving their sentences at unknown places.
