Hebei Renqiu Police Illegally Arrest Christians and Raid Houses

ADHRRF – The religious suppression and persecution by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is escalating, placing Christians at risk of arrest. Recently, two incidents occurred in Renqiu City, Hebei Province, resulting in houses of Christians ransacked and one of the Christians detained illegally.

At 2 p.m. on March 26 2018, Renqiu police burst into the house of Sun Sufang (female, 70, Christian from The Church of Almighty God) in a bid to arrest her, having five policemen guarding in the doorway of the apartment complex. Sun Sufang escaped because she was hiding herself in the house of her daughter, so the arrest action failed. On the next day, police came to her house again and affixed a seal on the door, then headed to the house of Su’s daughter, taking the couple of Su and her daughter to the police station. On March 28, Su’s husband and daughter were released, but two policemen started to roost at her home without consent, attempting to ensnare the Christians who may come. Sun Sufang was still held in captivity illegally.

According to Su’s neighbor, from March 26 to 28, police searched Su’s house repeatedly, taking away anything in her house worth money. Later, the salary bank account of Su’s husband was frozen, her son lost his job, and her daughter as a school teacher was laid off, looking after her sick father at home now.

At 6 p.m. on March 27, a dozen of policemen made a raid upon the rental house of Zhao Shujun, another Christian, confiscating a tablet, a laptop, a MP5 player, a suitcase and some clothes. Zhao evaded the capture since she was not in the house. Zhao’s neighbor recalled that the police didn’t leave until 9 p.m.

The Chinese Communist Party’s persecution against Christians has persisted to this day. Sources said that the deputy director in charge of Hebei provincial bureaus will personally take command of a forthcoming intensive search for Christians on various pretexts such as checking household accounts, replumbing and rewiring, and house evaluation.
