Christian Wei Xiuyun Tortured to Death by Chinese Communist Police

Victim Wei Xiuyun, female, born June 8, 1952, resident of Longxi Village, Dianbu Town, Feidong County, Hefei City, Anhui Province, China, joined The Church of Almighty God (CAG) in 1998. On November 17, 2014, Wei was arrested by the Public Security Bureau of Feidong County, Hefei City, Anhui Province, for believing in Almighty God. On the second day after her arrest, she was tortured into a comatose vegetative state. After six months of persistent coma, Wei passed away on May 18, 2015, at the age of 63. In order to cover up the incriminating evidence, the Feidong County Public Security Bureau dispatched 50 to 60 heavily armed policemen to surround the hospital to wrest away Wei’s corpse after her death. Moreover, they disallowed family visits. Until six months later, the Feidong County Public Security Bureau coerced Wei’s family to sign a no-appeal agreement before handing over the remains to them for cremation.

The following is the story of Wei Xiuyun’s arrest and persecution to death by the police of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Police Broke into Civilian Residence, Rummaged House and Arrested Christians

On November 17, 2014, at 4 p.m., when Wei Xiuyun and her daughter-in-law were doing housework at home, two policemen from the Feidong County Public Security Bureau, led by Wei Bangfa, Party Secretary of Longxi Village, Dianbu Town, Feidong County, abruptly broke into the house, forcibly subdued and arrested Wei Xiuyun without producing any credentials. Subsequently, Liu Chao, deputy secretary of the Feidong County Politics and Law Committee, rushed to Wei’s house with more than a dozen of policemen.

Afterward, when Wei’s husband took their grandson home from school, they were also subdued.

After ransacking Wei’s home for two hours, the police seized a copying machine, two boxes of A4 paper and ink and other copying tools, four MP5 players, two opera players for the senior, and six TF cards.

Subsequently, the police forcibly escorted Wei and her husband, daughter-in-law and grandson to the Feidong County Public Security Bureau.

Christian in Deep Coma Under Close Monitor by Police

At 7 o’clock that night, Wei and her husband were escorted to the Feidong County Hostel for secret interrogation in separate rooms.

On the next day (November 18) at around 6 p.m., Wei was transferred to the Hefei Second Detention Center. During that period, what kind of persecution the police had imposed on Wei Xiuyun was unknown to her family.

According to Wei’s son, on November 18 at 9 p.m., the police at the Hefei City Second Detention Center called and said that his mother was ill and she had been sent to the Anhui Provincial Hospital for treatment. Around 10 p.m., when Wei’s son rushed to the hospital, he saw his mother in a coma, her face pale and slightly puffy. There was vomiting residue on her clothes. He learned from the doctor that Wei’s coma was caused by brainstem hemorrhage.
According to Wei’s family, Wei had been in a deep comatose vegetative state with signs of edema on her face and hands. Her body was connected to an ECG monitor. Her life was sustained by relying on a ventilator for breathing and nutrient uid through a nasogastric tube.

One day, two months later, when Wei’s daughter was combing her mother’s hair, she discovered a three-centimeter long scar above her right ear. There was no hair on the scar. The daughter then asked the doctor if the scar had been caused by beating. The doctor lied and said, “The scar was not caused by beating but by sleeping.”

In the end, Wei Xiuyun stayed in a coma without responding to treatment for an entire six months in the Anhui Provincial Hospital and died on May 18, 2015. The medical history report issued by the hospital indicated that Wei had died of visceral failure due to brainstem bleeding.

Police Wrested Corpse Away,
Forced Family to Sign No-Appeal Agreement

On May 19, 2015, at 1 a.m., after Wei Xiuyun’s death, when her relatives were ready to send her body to the hospital mortuary, Gao Yuanzhi, director of the Hefei City Detention Center, suddenly said, “Wei Xiuyun had died of unnatural cause. Her family cannot claim the body. It must be handed over to us for disposal!” As soon as his words were said, ve or six plainclothes policemen immediately reached out to grab the mobile stretcher carrying Wei Xiuyun’s body. Wei’s daughter cried indignantly upon seeing that, “If any one of you dares to move my mother, I will ght to death with him. You didn’t spare her when she was alive, and you still won’t leave her in peace when she is dead!” Upon hearing that, the police let Wei’s relatives send the remains to the hospital mortuary.
After Wei’s family had just left the morgue and walked to the hospital hall, they received telephone calls from the Hefei City Detention Center’s political officer Tang and the hospital mortuary’s manager, saying that the body had been taken away by o cers from the Feidong County Public Security Bureau and sent to the Feidong County Funeral Home.

At this point, Wei’s husband remembered that he had just seen about fty to sixty armed policemen amass around the entrance of the hospital, and realized that the police had come prepared.

What made them even more indignant was that after Wei’s death, the authorities of the Feidong County Public Security Bureau did not allow the family members to view the remains at the funeral home.

On December 10, 2015, in order to close the case as soon as possible, Deputy Commander Huang Taohe of the Feidong County Public Security Bureau’s National Security Brigade gathered Committee Secretary Wei Bangfa of Longxi Village and Wei’s family together for an agreement to cremate the corpse.

According to Wei Xiuyun’s family, at the time, Village Committee Secretary Wei Bangfa drafted an agreement with the general contents as follows: Wei Xiuyun was arrested by the Public Security Bureau of Feidong County for believing in Almighty God. She had become ill during incarceration in the detention center and died in spite of emergency treatment. The Feidong County Public Security Bureau agrees to compensate Wei’s family with 150,000 RMB, providing that no future appeal is allowed. Upon agreement, the body can be turned over to Wei’s family for cremation.

Pressured by the Chinese Communist Government, Wei Xiuyun’s family reluctantly signed the agreement and retrieved Wei’s body for cremation.
